Jess, friend of Cris and Marochan
Jess is from the Philippines but lives in Japan where he plays the piano in a hotel in Chino. Team East was sent here by Cris. Funnily both friends are musicians, but their music could not be more different. That's why Jess first didn't like Cris' music at all. However, even though his music and tattoos and rings drive him crazy, the two became really good friends. Music also connects Jess to the traveler's next host Marochan. The two friends first met at the hotel where Jess plays the piano.
What is your spirit vegetable?
I like to be an okra. A green one.
What would you change in your country if you were able to?
Good question! Politics. I don't like the politics in the Philippines. I don't want to mention any country but we're very near to narcotic politics, if this president did not come. He's the best president we have ever had.
What do you expect from a friend?
To be real. That's a real friend. If I'm wrong, you have to tell me. If I'm bad, you have to tell. That's a friend.
How important are friends to you?
For me friends are just like my brothers and sisters. I don't discriminate. As long as you want to be my friend, I don't care about your past.
Is it easy to become friends in your country?
Very easy, very easy! Wherever you go. Hello, hello, they're all smiling. That's a friendly gesture. They want to talk to you. You know, that's the way we are. When we're eating, we say: Come on you can join us. It's very easy.
