Barbara, friend of Matthieu and Laura

Meet Barbara, she is a filmmaker and journalist from Brasilia. In her interview, Barbara talks to Team West about what she admires in her friend Matthieu, what she would change in Brazil if she were able to, and shares more about her friendship with her intern and next host, Laura
What is your superpower?
My superpower, I think, is empathy. I love to talk to people and I love to know people and I always know how people feel things differently than me.
What would you change in your country if you were able to?
I think education in Brazil, because people are not used to reading, going to the cinema and these things are very important for me. So the thing that I will change about my country is I'll make people more interested in culture.
What are you proud of?
I'm proud of being a good boss I think, because I have two little girls with me. They are my interns and I think I am very good with them.
What is your spirit vegetable?
Carrots, because they are my my favorite vegetable. I always eat them in my salad.
How important are friends to you?
I think they are very important because I don't have sisters or brothers, so my friends are my sisters and brothers. They're like a family to me.
Is it easy to become friends in your country?
It's not very easy. I think the coldest place in Brazil is Brasilia because Brasilia is a very young city and people haven't made connections yet so I think it's more difficult to have a friend in Brasilia. But for my generation that's born here, it's easier to make friends than for my parents, for example.
Can women and men be friends?
I think there is a symmetry between male and female so I'm very feminist girl. I don't know, in my opinion I think it's more difficult to be friends with a man than with a woman.
